History of Bethel Nepali Church
It is always very humbling experience to look back that how this church came to its being and it is mesmerizing. The great seed of this church began in the year 2006 with prayers between two Brothers Ganesh Rai "Paul" and Sayatman Rai at a small room at 71 Street, Jackson Heights, New York.
It is God’s plan that He is looking ways to bring Nepalese immigrants to serve Him, in USA. On February 06, 2006 with prayers; we started our first worship service and brought offering (Veti) in His name. At the beginning, we named our fellowship as New York Nepali Christian Fellowship. As our brothers’ work schedule got changed we moved our fellowship from Monday to Wednesday effective on April 05, 2006.
On February 04, 2007, we met Sister Kalpana Tamang, she was from NIM Gyaneshwor Church, Kathmandu Nepal. We were growing and people were accepting Christ as their Lord and Savior. By that time we started praying for Sunday service and started our First Sunday service at March 07, 2007. It is a historical day in the history of Bethel Nepali Church.
Wednesday Service continued and was named Wednesday House Fellowship. Those days we used to meet at Paul’s rented Apartment at 86 Street, Elmhurst, New York. As a church, we celebrated our first Easter and Christmas on 2007.
At the beginning of 2008, we started praying for our church name. With fasting and prayer we called meeting and our meeting of October 2008 passed our church name as Bethel Nepali Church. This is all his Grace.
Today, we have more than 75 members and we are growing. Our worship services are on Sunday and Wednesday. There are Sister Fellowship, Youth Fellowship, Prayer Service and Sunday School.
Since the beginning, God has taken us on an amazing journey of faith. We are always thankful to our Lord and thankful to all believers who contribute their valuable time, resources and prayer.
Vision of the Church
"To go and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. And to teach them to observe all things whatsoever Jesus Christ commands us." (Matthew 28:19-20)
"To continue steadfastly in the apostle’s teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread and the prayers." (Acts 2:42)
"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself." (Matthew 22:36-39)
